Whether you are a speech-language pathologist or a language interventionist, I welcome you here to a space designed to support your professional practice in the face of the realities of multilingualism. You will find resources designed to address current challenges in the field , related to children from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
I know you care deeply for your little ones.
I also know that you're looking for concrete answers to situations that, during your training, were often presented as exceptions. Today, these realities are part of everyday life, and the norm has changed.
That is why I offer you up-to-date, clinically relevant and applicable tools for your practice, to help you intervene with more clarity, confidence and nuance.
I am Melissa Farkouh
I am a speech-language pathologist, mother, speaker, and trainer.
In my practice, I have mainly focused on supporting multilingual and allophone children. This clientele continues, even today, to fuel my professional and human curiosity. They have a lot to teach us.
Being from a trilingual background myself and a mother of children growing up in a bilingual environment, I understand from the inside the realities and challenges these linguistic contexts present in intervention.
I recognize the gray areas, clinical questions, and very real issues that emerge when a challenging clientele appears in our files.
As a speech therapist or language interventionist, I have designed concrete and accessible tools for you to help you better navigate with multilingual and allophone children.
Training courses, webinars, workshops, downloadable tools, clinical kits, articles... Everything you need to better understand, better analyze, and better intervene, with nuance and confidence.
My professional commitment
-
Lectures and workshops
Committed to teaching and training, I lead conferences and workshops focused on evidence-based interventions. My goal is to support professionals by providing them with up-to-date knowledge and practical tools to improve their daily practice. I also participate in professional networks and working groups to stay connected to the challenges and innovations in the field of speech-language pathology.
-
Personal and Cultural Perspectives
As a mother of two bilingual children, I am fluent in French, English, and Arabic. My Egyptian heritage enriches my understanding of different cultures, which positively influences my professional approach. I have dedicated myself to creating training programs and resources for professionals who work with multilingual children, as this population is often underrepresented in research and practice.
